The FAMILY FREEDOM CENTER is a 501 C3 non-profit organization that seeks to empower the Black Community by reconstructing cultural and socio-economic narratives and unapologetically embracing what it means to be Black, both historically and present day.

OUR  MISSION

FAMILY FREEDOM CENTER was founded by the late Xavier "X" Bell who transitioned out of this life in the fall of 2019. Our journey began in 2015 as Family Freedom Schools, operating under the umbrella of Community Action Duluth. In 2018, we achieved our 501(c)3 status as the Family Freedom Center. Since then, we have persistently fortified cultural resilience and provided relevant programs addressing structural racism and internalized oppression affecting Black families in Duluth. 

Our organization is built on these 4 pillars:
